New to Coding? Start Here

If you're new to coding, the good news is you don't need to install anything to get started. This site has a built-in code editor and a Run Code button right in your browser — that's all you need for your first problem.

Works in any modern browser — nothing to download

Go to Challenges

Why would I want this?

Normally, programmers write code in a program called an IDE ("Integrated Development Environment") installed on their own computer, like VS Code or IntelliJ. You do not need one of those to use this site. Every challenge already includes a code editor in the page itself, and clicking Run Code sends your code to a server that runs it and shows you the output — no installation required.

Setup

  1. Click Go to Challenges above (or Challenges in the top navigation bar).
  2. Pick any problem marked Easy — these are written for people writing their first few programs.
  3. Read the problem description, then write your solution in the code editor on the page.
  4. Click Run Code to see your output. If it's not quite right yet, that's completely normal — tweak your code and run it again as many times as you like.
Everything else on this Resources page (Docker, the Local Runner Kit) is optional, advanced setup for people who want to run parts of this site on their own computer. You will not need any of it to start learning or to work through challenges.
